Mourning another vinyl shop

We mourned Dance Tracks. A few of us went there to say good bye, smell it for the last and get what was left. A guy came on wednesday and bought all the classics and distributors picked up their vinyl, so the store was empty. The listening station just carried one turntable and the flyers were packed in a box. Some regulars stopped by and did not know about the closing. "This is a sad day."

I met Stefan Prescott, the owner, for the first time. He was calm. I cannot imagine his feelings. Probably a lot of memories, but he looks strong enough to move forward. He tried, that is my assumption. Jimmy was telling that some days sales were less than $50 and some days just J stopped by. Jimmy things he is going to be playing more parties now.

I took some photos but I thought it was better to remember the way it was. I made my last purchase. I got Lil Louis-Do U Luv Me, two Kay-Dee 45" records, Love Fever from Prelude records and Gilles Peterson Digs America 2. The last one was very proper for the occasion. It is an album about "keeping quality rarities alive" while many specialty vinyl shops are closing in United States. Rest in peace Dance Tracks, you will be missed.
