It took me around a while but I finally went throughout 8 essays from Portuguese sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos. Sociology is boring and difficult to read, but still de Sousa Santos is a highly recommended reading. It should be in your bookshelves my fellow comrades. Active in the Social World Forum, de Sousa Santos outlines a series of alternatives to approach a more inclusive world, far from the capitalist practices and social fascisms of the liberal democracy.
Through concepts like ecology of knowledge, he boldly explains the current crises and proposes ways to challenge the hegemonies of global capitalism. He states socialism is endless democracy. De Sousa Santos advocates for a democratic look to employment, which includes a reduction of the hours of the workweek and flexibility of immigration laws towards a denationalization of citizenship.
